About Pendulum Leader

We created Pendulum Leader because we kept seeing the same pattern repeating in leadership teams across many different companies.

Eric first noticed it while studying how people actually behave inside growing organizations. One moment the energy feels high — ideas are flowing, decisions happen quickly, and the whole place feels alive. Then, often without much warning, things begin to scatter. Priorities overlap. Alignment slips. Even though everyone is working hard, it starts to feel chaotic.

Leaders typically respond by adding more structure, clearer processes, and tighter coordination. For a while that helps bring things back under control. But before long, the opposite problem often appears. Momentum slows. New ideas become rarer. People start waiting for permission before they take action.

This constant back-and-forth is not a sign that something is fundamentally broken. It is simply the natural swing of any living organization — the pendulum moving between chaos and control.

The book and the work

That recurring pattern became the foundation for the book Pendulum Leader: How Great Leaders Guide Organizational Momentum Between Chaos and Control. Eric originally developed the framework after years of studying how people and teams operate under pressure. Together we shaped it into a practical approach that helps leaders see this motion clearly and guide it with greater intention, rather than constantly reacting to whatever issue feels most urgent in the moment.

What we actually do

We begin by using a diagnostic tool that shows exactly where an organization currently sits on the pendulum and how fast the swing is moving. Once that picture is clear, we work together to create a practical plan that helps leaders recognize early signs of drift and gently guide the system back toward the center, where energy and structure support each other instead of pulling in opposite directions.

We also offer a practitioner certification program so that leaders, HR teams, and L&D professionals inside your organization can learn to implement and sustain the Pendulum Leader Operating System themselves. Our goal is to help you build the internal capability to guide the motion long after our initial work together is complete.

This is not another complicated methodology or a long list of new rules. It is a clearer, more natural way of seeing and leading an organization. Once leaders understand the pattern, they stop feeling jerked around by every new issue and begin guiding the overall motion instead.
