The framework came from the work, not the other way around.
Pendulum Leader was built by practitioners who have led organizations through growth, change, and the constant tension between moving fast and staying grounded.
Nicole Hockley
Co-Founder · Pendulum Leader
Nicole Hockley has spent her career inside organizations navigating rapid growth, structural change, leadership transitions, and the gap that opens between what an organization intends and what it actually executes. Those are exactly the moments the Pendulum framework is built for.
As an executive in the defense manufacturing industry, Nicole has led cross-functional teams through complex operational environments where the cost of misalignment is not abstract. She has seen what happens when organizations swing too far toward chaos, priorities fragmenting, decisions stalling, teams working hard toward slightly different goals. And she has seen what happens when they swing too far toward control, processes that slow everything down, approval chains that kill momentum, leaders who are technically in charge but practically stuck.
What she kept coming back to, across years of work inside real organizations, was that the leaders who navigated change best were not the ones who reacted fastest. They were the ones who could see the system clearly and guide it intentionally. That observation became the foundation of Pendulum Leader.
Nicole holds a Master of Science in Human Resources and is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHRca). She brings that background not as a theoretical lens, but as a practical one rooted in how people, teams, and organizations actually behave under pressure.
"The leaders who navigate change well are not reacting faster. They are seeing the motion earlier. That is the whole difference."

Eric Hockley, Co-Founder and Framework Architect
Eric Hockley is the architect of the Pendulum Leader framework. Where Nicole applies it, Eric built it. He developed the underlying model, the diagnostic instrument, the five organizational signals, and the Leadership Loop that sits at the center of the methodology.
Eric's work draws on deep experience in organizational systems, leadership behavior, and the patterns that distinguish organizations that stay centered from those that keep swinging. His contribution to Pendulum Leader is structural, rooted in the precision of the framework, the integrity of the diagnostic, and the coherence of the methodology across every engagement.
Together, Nicole and Eric co-authored Pendulum Leader: How Great Leaders Guide Organizational Momentum Between Chaos and Control, the book that introduced the framework and continues to be the foundation of everything Pendulum Leader delivers.
The book behind the framework.
Pendulum Leader: How Great Leaders Guide Organizational Momentum Between Chaos and Control introduces the full framework, the pendulum model, the five organizational signals, the Leadership Loop, and the Five Human Keys that unlock performance at the individual and team level.
It is written for leaders who can already feel when something is off in their organization and want a clearer way to see it, name it, and act on it. Practical, direct, and grounded in how organizations actually work.

Why we built this.
Most leadership development focuses on individual skills like how to communicate better, how to delegate, how to set goals. That work has value. But it does not address the system those leaders are operating inside.
Organizations drift. Priorities multiply. Decision ownership blurs. The pace of change outstrips the organization's capacity to absorb it. And individually skilled leaders find themselves frustrated because the system they are leading is working against them.
Pendulum Leader exists to address that gap. Not with more frameworks to memorize, but with a clear way to see what is actually happening in the system and a practical discipline for guiding it toward center.
That is the work. And it is the work we are built for.
